Joshua is the New Moses that takes them into Canaan.

Crossing of the Jordon
Joshua’s farewell address and admonition along with Phineas (23).
Mount Ebal and Gerazim and ceremony and ratification of Covenant (24). Dividing of the Land

David Reigned 40yrs “a man after God’s own heart.”

Eli’s troubles
Israel asks for a king
Saul anointed King
Saul’s disobedience and God’s rejection of Saul

David anointed by Samuel to be future King
Goliath and Israel’s wars with the Philistines
Saul despises David and tries to kill him
Jonathan and David become friends.
David spares Saul’s life

1st Kings 970 Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon are written at this time. 1st and 2nd Kings the “Divided Kingdom”

Adonijah David’s son declares himself to be King and is later killed.
Solomon made king.
Solomon Reigned 40yrs began in wisdom and obedience and built the 1st Temple, but went into idolatry through intermarriage, or agreements with pagan cultures.

Chapters 5-10 Solomon builds the temple over 7 years and increases in wealth.

Chapter 11 Solomon sins according (Deut.17:14-17) (Army/Intermarriage/Wealth).
Solomon dies and his son Rehoboam comes to rule and creates a split in 930bc.

In Jewish history, the mother of the King (I Kings 2:18, 19, Jer. 13:18) was called the "Queen Mother" and sat at the right hand of the King as mediator to the king. All through the history of the kingdom, the Queen Mother occupied that place, second only to the king in the kingdom. There was a special word for the Queen Mother in Hebrew: she was called Gebirah, or "Great Lady."

Chapter 12 930 BC separation of the Southern Kingdom – Rehoboam – Judah / 19 kings from the Northern Kingdom – Jeroboam – 10 tribes of Israel / went into idolatry / 20 kings.

2nd Kings 930 (Rehoboam & Jeroboam)
Reviews the history of the Kings of Israel and Judah; 20 kings each and Ends with Israel being led into captivity to Assyria and Judah to Babylon. Their captivity was prophesied by Jeremiah (II Chron.36:21).
