Faith’s Mission Statement

Faith UMC exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

What is a Disciple?

If Faith UMC exists to make disciples, then what is a disciple?  We believe a disciple is a person who:

  • Experiences the forgiveness and acceptance of God, follows the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, and demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit.
  • Shares in the life and witness of a community of disciples, including Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
  • Serves in some form of ministry every day.
  • Participates in God’s suffering and transformation of the world.
  • Anticipates a future life in the presence of God.
  • And who thereby yearns to lead others to become disciples.

Faith’s Vision Statement

Our vision (of making disciples) revolves around “uniting church and home by helping people define, strengthen, and celebrate spiritual milestones in their growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

What is your spiritual milestone?7 Spiritual Milestones

Milestone 1 – Birth of a Baby: Parents commit to nurture their children in Christ’s holy Church, that by their teaching and example their children may be guided to accept God’s grace for themselves, to profess their faith openly, and to lead a Christian life.

Milestone 2 – Beginning in God’s Word: Parents and the Church partner in teaching children the importance of the Bible, and our United Methodist belief that “through Scripture the living Christ meets us in the experience of redeeming grace.”

Milestone 3 – Preparing for Adolescence: Pre-adolescent children are taught about their identity in Christ, place in His kingdom, and spiritual growth.

Milestone 4 – Faith Commitment: Persons are given the opportunity to learn the basic beliefs of our faith (such as Jesus, sin, confession, and salvation) to lead them into a personal relationship with Himself.

Milestone 5 – Commitment to Purity: Persons are equipped and challenged to make a commitment to purity for life.

Milestone 6 – Passage to Adulthood: Parents and the Church partner in opening up a conversation with our youth about what it means to be a true disciple of Jesus Christ, so as not to be ashamed of His “Good News.”

Milestone 7 – Life in Christ: Adults are led to genuinely understand and practice the membership vows of the United Methodist Church (to be Christ’s representatives in the world through our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness).
