Technical Director Job Description

The director must be a fully devoted Christ-follower and fully supportive of the ministry of Faith Church with the mission (Making disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world) and the vision (Becoming like the Good Shepherd for families and children) the main focus of his/her efforts. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Technical Director is responsible for setting the spiritual tone for the Technical Ministry.  The goal is to ensure that services and events are able to use technology efficiently, effectively, and strategically in order to enhance the experience of those attending.



  • Recruit, lead, train, equip, and evaluate a volunteer tech team for each venue of worship, coordinating posted schedules to make sure that all venues are supported by qualified volunteer team members.
  • Provide training, instruction, and oversight to volunteers for audio, video, multimedia and web streaming for worship services. To help accomplish this, the director will develop a basic instructions manual to distribute at training.
  • Provide tech support for all weekend and Monday night services as well as non-Sunday events (Christmas, Easter, Christmas Eve, off-site outreach events, retreats, seminars, weddings, funerals, baptisms, annual meetings).
  • Coordinate and oversee stage setup/tear-downs for audio/visual equipment with a volunteer stage team.
  • Install and maintain A/V systems and computers for all needed rooms and venues in coordination with the Trustees.
  • Oversee the editing of audio and video as needed.
  • Advise and make recommendations to the church staff and the Trustees on the purchase of new technical equipment.
  • Oversee both services and be present for the second service.
  • Serve as a member of the Worship Ministry Team, which includes the Senior Pastor, Associate or Local Pastor, and the Music Coordinator.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned and/or needed.

Worship Leader

Accountable to: Senior Pastor and SPRC

The Worship Leader for Faith United Methodist Church must demonstrate extensive knowledge of contemporary Christian music and be driven to lead others into God’s presence through worship – not just perform and sing songs.  S/he will plan, organize, and lead Praise Team rehearsals and contemporary worship services that uplift the congregation and proclaim glory and honor to God.  The Worship Leader will be a skilled musician and administrator with high personal integrity and maturity in Christ that is able to effectively lead our congregation vocally and instrumentally in contemporary worship.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

Coordinate music selection with Scriptural directions and themes

Meet weekly with Pastors and Tech Director to plan and review the weekly service

Practice weekly with team members and learn new music to prepare for following the 10:45 a.m. service

Meet on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. for Praise Team rehearsal

Demonstrate ability to work with volunteer musicians to achieve excellence in musical production

Ensure all band members have lead sheets and/or chord charts for all rehearsals and Sunday services

Demonstrate solid understanding of music and sound technology

Identify, nurture, and encourage worship leading gifts in others
